2.5mm Stainless Steel (Grade 316) Guard Wire is used by Telstra to protect buried telephone wires from direct lightning strike possibilities. Mainly used in country areas where long runs of buried cables are common.

It can be left in unoccupied conduits and used as a draw wire at a later date, or it can also be used as a tracer wire thanks to its conductive properties.

Standard drum sizes are 2000m and weigh approx 80kg.
